ABOUT

Dr. David (Dave) W. Hebda is a clinical psychologist licensed in the state of Virginia, with a specialty in neuropsychology. He attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA for his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in psychology.  In 1986 he earned his PhD in Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. He continued on to become the Assistant Professor of Behavioral Sciences at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh from 1981 until 1987.

He and his family relocated to Northern Virginia where Dr. Hebda completed his clinical residency in neuropsychology at Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria VA at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department, specializing in evaluation and treatment of individuals who sustained brain trauma via traumatic brain injury, CVA (cerebrovascular accident), anoxic injury, or other cortical events.

He completed his APA-approved clinical internship at the Mount Vernon Center for Community Mental Health- Adult Unit, where he specialized in neuropsychology. He also provided treatment and case management for adults with the full range of DSM diagnoses.

He served as a Neuropsychologist at Learning Services Neurorehabilitation in Manassas VA from 1991 until 1997; further serving as the Clinical Director of the facility from 1995 through 1997. In this position he supervised a direct care staff which included physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, vocational therapy, as well as neuropsychological testing and cognitive retraining.

In May 1997, Dr. Hebda ventured off to opening his own private practice, which is devoted exclusively to psychological and neuropsychological evaluations of individuals from late adolescence through late adulthood, including psychoeducational evaluations, memory assessments, dementia evaluations, and forensic evaluations.

Dr. David W. Hebda provides consultation and assessment services for the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, and the Bridges-to-Success program of the Fairfax County Department of Family Services. Additionally, he has been a consulting Neuropsychologist with Brain Injury Services, Centers for Neurorehabilitation, Prince William Neuroscience Center, Winchester Rehabilitation Center, and the Neurorehabilitation Unit at Waynesboro Hospital.

Dr. Hebda and his wife have been married for 40 years, raised three children, and enjoy the pleasure of four grandchildren.

ABOUT

Dr. David J. Hebda is a clinical neuropsychologist licensed in Virginia.  He obtained his Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology, Washington, DC Campus. His dissertation was on "Diagnostic Decision-Making of Pervasive Developmental Disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders: A Critique of DSM-5 Taskforce." Upon completion of his academic coursework, he completed his American Psychological Association (APA) Accredited Internship at Devereux Institute of Clinical Training and Research, located in Villanova, Pennsylvania.  
 
Afterwards,he completed a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship specializing in clinical neuropsychology.  His fellowship included a private practice setting and medical centers, as well as didactic training through Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC: 2-year Neuropsychology Fellowship Seminar).   
 
He specializes in conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations to individuals from late adolescence to later adulthood to determine functional capacities and assist with differential diagnosis and treatment planning. Patient population is characterized by a diverse array of neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, including multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, dementias (e.g., Alzheimer’s type, vascular, FTD, etc.), traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, psychiatric disorders, developmental disorders (including ADHD), and learning disabilities (among others).  
 
In addition, he provides comprehensive psychological evaluations as well as psychoeducational evaluations to determine current functioning levels and the need for possible accommodations in the workplace and/or classroom, as per the Americans with Disabilities Act.
